Our Carriers![]() HIP New YorkHIP is a company with a distinguished 54-year history of providing its members with quality, affordable health care. We have almost 800,000 members in the New York metropolitan area and we have been universally recognized for health care excellence. HIP New York has gained national recognition for health care excellence. Since 1999, HIP has been granted Commendable Accreditation, awarded only to those health plans that have established programs for continuous quality improvement and meet NCQA's rigorous standards. For the second year in a row, HIP was ranked #1 in New York CIty in Crain's "New York Area's Largest HMOs" survey based on the number of enrolled members (August 28, 2000). HIP has received a three-star rating from Newsweek (November 8, 1999). HIP's technological excellence was recognized by Information Week in September 2000. The magazine recently named HIP among the nation's top 500 companies in the use of innovative technology. HIP members can choose from among concentric health care circles not available anywhere in the New York area. The first circle is HIP's physician-owned and operated group models at health care centers in Queens-Long Island, Brooklyn, and Staten Island. The second circle is an independent network of physicians practicing in their own neighborhood offices. Now, HIP has further augmented its delivery of health care services with a third concentric circle: formation of a network of alliances with Lenox Hill Hospital, St. Barnabas Hospital, and Continuum Health Partners consisting of Beth Israel Medical Center and St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center for members in Manhattan, and with Montefiore Medical Center and St. Barnabas for members in the Bronx and Westchester. All together, HIP members have access to over 14,000 participating physicians in more than 22,000 service locations.
